【摘要】:TheobjectiveoftheinvestigationpresentedinthisTechnicalReportwastoquantifytherequiredmaterialtoughnessfortheoperationalsafetyofroundsteelchains.Thedeterminationofthistoughnessmusttakeplaceunderunfavourableboundaryconditions,i.e.atthelowestpermissibleoperatingtemperatureondamaged(precracked)chains.Onthebasisofcharacteristicpropertiesdeterminedonchainsandthree-pointbend(TPB)specimensandthenotchimpactenergy,aload-bearingandbrittlefracturetransitiontemperatureconceptwaselaborated.Fromthecorrelationofthefracturestressofchains,fracturemechanicscharacteristicpropertiesandthenotchimpactenergy,minimumvaluesofthenotchimpactenergycanbederivedwhichyieldadequatesafetyagainstfractureforthedamagedchain.Furthermore,inordertoexcludebrittlefailureofchains,thepositionofthelowestpermissibleoperatingtemperaturerelativetotheNDT(nil-ductilitytransition)temperaturewasdetermined.Finally,thelinkageofthedeterminedfracturemechanicspropertiestonotchimpactenergyvaluesandthedefinitionoftherequirementsforthesevaluesfurnishesasimpletestandacceptanceprocedureforchainmaterialsandchaintypes.
